Summary
This vacancy will remain open until filled. The first cut‑off date is 11 / 17 / 2025. Additional applications will be referred as needed. This position is located in the Audiology Service at the Lubbock Community Based Outpatient Clinic as part of the Amarillo VA Health Care System. The duties and responsibilities are carried out throughout the medical center including all clinical and patient care areas involved with the service. Incumbent is a staff audiologist.
Qualifications
United States Citizenship : Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
Education
(1) Doctor of Audiology (AuD) from an audiology program recognized by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association (ASHA)
OR (2) Other doctoral degree in hearing science or a directly related field from an institution accredited by an accredited institution recognized by the USDE
Foreign Education : Education completed outside the U.S. must be submitted to a private organization specializing in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials and deemed at least equivalent
Licensure : Individuals must hold a full, current and unrestricted license to practice audiology at the doctoral level in a U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
Experience : One year of professional experience comparable to GS‑11 level; additional experience with tinnitus management, balance disorder evaluation, auditory processing disorder evaluation, TeleAudiology, and supervisory roles is preferred
Preferred Experience : At least 2 years in professional audiology practice, experience with advanced diagnostic testing related to balance disorders, medico‑legal evaluations, and current ASHA certification
Duties
Conduct a full range of audiological evaluations to determine the type and degree of hearing loss and tinnitus, and to assess balance and neural system function
Plan, deliver, and monitor the effectiveness of patient‑centered treatment and rehabilitative services
Select, fit, and program hearing aids and assistive listening devices
Provide counseling and education to patients, families, and caregivers, including informed consent
Maintain proper maintenance and calibration of specialized electroacoustic instrumentation
Maintain accurate patient records, complete required documentation, and comply with HIPAA and informed consent procedures
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, staff meetings, and in‑service training as directed
Maintain professional competency through continuing education and reading professional journals
Manage ancillary assignments such as program management duties on an occasional basis
Work schedule : Monday‑Friday 8 AM–4 : 30 PM. Telework not available; position is not virtual
