JOB SUMMARY
This position is to support both the Shipping Clerk and Order Controller. This position is to facilitate the timely and efficient shipment of customer orders and to respond to inquiries regarding shipping-related issues. To print and distribute pick tickets, research and communicate when orders cannot print and resolve any controllable problems that prevent orders from printing. Follow all customer requirements, specifically labeling and other customer required documents. Facilitate and manage all outbound freight carrier processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Pack and route (i.e. web route, form filling, email) orders, including calling in carriers and creating or getting proper documentation for all shipments (i.e. bill of lading, packing slips, export documents).
- Supply shipment details to appropriate individuals.
- Attend to drivers and where to dock and providing proper paperwork.
- Organization of all paperwork in office and following up with shipments to ensure timely pickups.
- Managing priorities of orders based on time and importance of the day and shipment.
- Manage outbound orders by categories and shipping date.
- Plan and build shipping loads based on shipping date and destination.
- Wave, print and distribute pick tickets every half hour.
- Research the reasons orders cannot print and communicate to the appropriate people (CSR’s, buyers, Management (in certain instances))
- Ability to analyze inventory availability and then create movements to correct locations and zones.
- Prepare and accurately match all WMS generated labels to pick tickets.
- Read, and follow all special requirements for order pickers. Provide the necessary labels and documents as needed.
- Handle the complete routing process for customer sales orders.
- Coordinate and manage all outbound carrier functions including contacting for pick up, check in, and BOL management. Also includes managing Shipment Explorer in WMS.
- Check in and direct inbound carriers to the Receiving Department.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
Communicate with proper individuals for routing questions when not provided.Communicate with pickers and loaders for proper staging of shipments and loading.Assist in shipments ran outside the system for internal use.Assist with releasing orders and answering emails when Supervisors are absent.Research and resolve any problems that would prevent and order from printing.Unlock customer orders so CSR’s can make changes to orders.Manage end of day procedures through reports to insure all shipments are finalized and out to the floor.Back up the other order controllers as needed.Other duties assigned by Supervisor including but not limited to labeling, repacking, data entry, and general cleaning duties.Performs other related duties as assigned.PERFORMANCE MEASURES
Orders must be spooled, printed and distributed every half hour.Orders that cannot print must be researched and controllable problems (such as stock not being received and put-away) must be resolved quickly.Orders that cannot print must be researched and an explanation as to why they cannot print must be given to the CSR, Buyer and Management (when warranted) in a timely manner.On-time shipment performance.Respond promptly to all phone calls and e-mails correspondence.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position does not have any supervisory responsibility, however, will aid in managing workload, answering emails and supplying work to order pullers when Supervisor is absent.
POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m. Regular attendance is expected and required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must be able to communicate / read / write in the English language.Mathematical : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
