SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Program Planning Group (PPG) Project Manager is responsible for assisting the PPG Director in the planning of various projects for the district's buildings, sites and facilities. Assistant PPG Project Manager Primary role is to support the PPG Director to establish and maintain project management standards, processes and best practice, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and are aligned with the district's goals and standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Delivery & Management Support
- Assists the PPG Director in successfully delivering program level projects.
- Provide guidance, best practices, templates and tools to ensure consistency and efficiency in project management practices.
- Assist in overseeing group of related projects that are aligned with specific programs and / or objectives, while prioritization projects based on strategic objectives
- Monitors performance across the various programs and projects ensuring efficiency and achievement of organizational goals.
- Assist in overseeing the entire portfolio of collective projects and programs across the organization, managing the allocation of resources
- Responsible for providing management reports and assisting in establishing guidelines and governance frameworks.
- Assist and collaborate in project management processes and standards across the organization.
Collaboration, Coordination, Planning & Assessment
Collaborate with Facilities Management staff, Principals and program managers to confirm and develop the scope of work and or program needs.Coordinate projects with internal staff, i.e., Construction, Maintenance, Plant Facilities, and other departments.Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure project scope and feasibility are aligned with district goals and standardsConduct site visits to investigate feasibility for projects regarding required program level assessment and building system requirements.Collect and analyze data, utilizing tracking software to drive decision making related to the creation and modification of annual project planningPerforms other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be :
Education : Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or closely related field is preferred
Experience : None. Related experience in building design, construction, architecture, or in an industrial setting is preferred.
Licenses / Certificates :
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Nevada driver license with a driving record acceptable to the District.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must demonstrate a willingness to travel between projects and work a flexible schedule.
Reads construction drawings and specifications.
COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES
Knowledge of / Skill in / Ability to :
Knowledge of project coordination practices and procedures.Knowledge of process phases of architecture / engineering design as it relates to building construction, including architectural, structural, plumbing, mechanical (HVAC) and electrical systems.Knowledge of construction documents, including plans and specifications.Knowledge of building construction codes.Skill in construction project estimating and assisting with budget management.Skill in computer programs including P6, MS Project, Arch GIS, AutoCAD, Excel, Word and Access highly desirable.Skill in computer usage and its applications for planning / design project management, spreadsheet management and database management.Ability to communication effectively both verbally and in writingAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholder to ensure positive collaboration.WORK ENVIRONMENT? / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
