About the Role :

Mollie Stone’s Markets, an upscale, family-owned grocery store chain in the San Francisco Bay Area, is seeking a Full-Time Wine & Spirits Manager (Head Clerk) . This position is ideal for someone who has a deep passion for wine, craft spirits, and gourmet food, and enjoys delivering outstanding customer service. The Wine & Spirits Manager is responsible for managing the department’s operations, product selection, merchandising, and customer engagement.

Essential Functions :

  • Assist customers with wine and spirit selections and provide exceptional service.
  • Offer pairing suggestions and education on both domestic and international wines and specialty spirits.
  • Maintain attractive, well-stocked, and properly signed displays.
  • Oversee the receiving and stocking of new shipments.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory accuracy and organization.
  • Collaborate with buyers, vendors, and staff to curate a high-quality, on-trend product selection.
  • Support cross-department needs, including cashiering and general store duties.
  • Ensure department complies with all applicable health, safety, and alcohol laws.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in retail, with a focus on wine and spirits.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or lead role within a grocery or specialty retail environment.
  • Ability to perform basic inventory management and cash handling.
  • Knowledge of and passion for wine, spirits, and food.
  • Local candidates only.

    • Preferred Qualifications :

  • WSET certification or relevant wine / spirits education a plus.
  • Experience working with distributors and managing vendor relationships.
  • Strong visual merchandising and promotional planning skills.
  • Familiarity with seasonal product trends and regional producers.

    • Supervisory Responsibility :

  • Oversight of the department team and coordination with store leadership.

  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

    • Physical Requirements :

  • Must be able to regularly lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Standing : Up to 8 hours per day.
  • Walking : Up to 8 hours per day.
  • Reaching : Up to 4 hours per day.

    • Pay range :

    28.41 / hour depending on industry experience.

    Travel Requirements :

  • Occasional travel between stores or to local vendor events may be required.
