Medical Coder (Hybrid)

Southtowns (Hybrid : On-site & Remote)

Schedule :  Full-Time

Compensation :  $20.00 – $23.50 / hour (commensurate with experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coder to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment and is looking for long-term stability and growth. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, balancing both on-site collaboration and remote flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Review, interpret, and accurately assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to patient records.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal regulations and payer guidelines.
  • Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance companies and follow up on denials or rejections.
  • Work closely with providers and staff to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient records and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Generate and review coding / billing reports to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support audits and provide recommendations for process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Health Information Technology, Medical Billing & Coding, or related field (preferred).
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of previous medical billing / coding experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding guidelines.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) and billing systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
