The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is offering an excellent opportunity for qualified individuals interested in the Patient Financial Services Specialist position. The department currently has one vacancy within the division.
This team is tasked with duties that include a combination of written / oral communications and collaborating with California Children Services Admin and Medical Therapy staff, as well as the Employment and Human Services Agency. The primary focus of this is to determine program eligibility for prospective clients in regard to residential and financial requirements. This includes but is not limited to, assisting clients in establishing eligibility for the State Medi-Cal program. Onsite interviews are conducted with client families in completing this task. Consideration of due process timelines is a priority. The FE Team performs their assigned duties per the State CCS Case Management Manual, Chapter 6.

What you will typically be responsible for :
Informs individuals, agencies, and community groups about CCS residential / financial eligibility using written and oral methodsIdentifies barriers and assists the applicant / client, especially those families whose primary language is other than English, to secure medical services and coverage of the sameClarifies issues related to client address, phone number, health insurance, child custody or guardianshipRefers clients to appropriate insurance programs, such as Medi-Cal, providing assistance and follow-up, as appropriate, to establish eligibilityEnsures that financial eligibility procedures are followed accurately and timelyPerforms annual CCS renewals of residential and financial eligibilitySchedules and conducts interviews of families potentially or currently eligible for Medi-Cal, OTLICP (formerly Healthy Families), or other insurance options, including online application assistance if necessaryGathers required information and documentation, including past year’s CA tax returns.
