Job Description

The Analog and Mixed Signal Applications Engineer will be an expert on COMPANY's family of linear products and solutions, which includes but is not limited to :

  • Analog to Digital Converters
  • Resolver to Digital Converters
  • Digital to Analog Converters
  • Analog Multiplexors
  • Operational Amplifiers
  • Comparators
  • Voltage References

In this exciting position, you will be a key part of a dynamic team creating valuable analog and mixed-signal semiconductor products and solutions for COMPANY's customers. As the responsible Applications Engineer for these products, you will interface with customers as well as our Field Applications Engineers and sales teams to facilitate pre-sales activity and ensure the successful launch of the new products. Fundamentally, your role is to help secure customer design wins and assist customers in bringing their products to market rapidly and successfully. Through your development of evaluation boards, technical literature, and product presentations, you will contribute directly to the success of the products and customers that you support.

Specific Responsibilities include :

  • Develop compelling hardware solutions in the form of evaluation boards and reference designs for applications that are suited to COMPANY's products.
  • Provide technical support via email, phone, and customer visits.
  • Debug low-level hardware issues with customers.
  • Perform simulation and lab evaluation of products to understand and demonstrate product behavior under customer specific use conditions.
  • Develop evaluation and demonstration PCBs.
  • o Including schematic entry, layout guidance, component selection, documentation

  • Create and deliver technical product presentations to customers and technical sales teams.
  • Train customers, Field Applications Engineers, and technical sales teams.
  • Work on new or advanced techniques and methods to help solve customers' design challenges.
  • Generate reference design kits, design notes, application notes and technical papers demonstrating how to use COMPANY products in practical applications.
  • Generate new product concepts and support development of architectural specifications.
  • Gather Voice of the Customer and represent the customers' interests from within product development teams.
  • Actively participate in all phases of new product development.
  • Define and maintain product roadmaps.
  • Perform technical competitive analyses.
  • As a COMPANY ambassador, the Applications Engineer works directly with customers and must therefore have strong customer relations skills including professional demeanor, tact, positivity and integrity as well as strong oral and written communication skills. Furthermore, Applications Engineers interact with a wide range of internal company employees such as IC Design and Software Engineers, Systems Architects, Field Applications Engineers, Sales personnel, Marketing representatives, and senior managers. Therefore, interpersonal skills are very important.

    Qualifications

  • BSEE +5 years, or MSEE +3 years, in relevant fields with a strong track record of success; or equivalent experience
  • Technical background in analog and mixed-signal circuit operations
  • Preferred Specialized Training, Skills, and Behavioral Traits :

    Candidate should have experience and / or knowledge in most if not all of the following areas.)

  • A background in Applications, Design, Product Evaluation, or Test Engineering in a mixed signal or analog environment
  • Product definition and development
  • Printed circuit design
  • Cadence OrCAD schematic entry, Cadence PSpice A / D, and Cadence Allegro experience, or equivalent
  • Strong analytical skills and circuit debug skills
  • Good engineering judgment
  • Analog and mixed-signal system modeling, data acquisition and control, and signal conditioning
  • Matlab, LabVIEW, Python or embedded software development for data acquisition
  • Proficiency with lab test equipment : oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, DAQ systems, DMMs, curve tracers, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work with limited direction
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
