POSITION DESCRIPTION :

Adjunct Clinical Faculty members perform instructional and clinical duties and responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy, mission, policies, and procedures of the College and appropriate to the individual assignment. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of teacher, mentor and facilitator of learning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Academic Education duties include the following :

  • Must be able to teach in a didactic setting, including use of active learning techniques and development of student learning objectives.
  • Will be expected to work with other teachers in team teaching setting.
  • Develop and manage educational experiences for a diverse population of students.
  • Collaborate with administrators and faculty in assessment of individual teaching effectiveness and the effectiveness of the curriculum while contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Assess student learning outcomes and make or recommend appropriate course or program modifications based on results.
  • Review, update, and maintain syllabi in collaboration with other faculty and administrators in accordance with NUNM policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Post and maintain office hours as stipulated in current policy.
  • Establish and maintain student instructional records and submit grades in a timely manner.
  • Complete and submit self-evaluations, reports and other documents as assigned or requested in a timely manner.

Basic duties include the following :

  • Teach in the Lab Diagnosis Lab course, specifically providing hands-on experience in laboratory and diagnostic skills crucial for medical practice. Provide practical experience in a range of techniques including phlebotomy, various injection methods, and handling and analysis of clinical specimens.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty in ND program.
  • Work collaboratively with the Dean and the Associate Dean of Clinical Sciences of the ND program.
  • Use electronic databases, locate and analyze / apply evidence informed information related to lab diagnosis.
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond effectively to unexpected situations or medical incidents in a laboratory setting, including managing student health emergencies such as vasovagal responses.
  • EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Doctoral degree (ND preferred)
  • QUALIFICATIONS

    Must possess the following qualifications.

  • Must be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in phlebotomy and lab diagnosis.
  • A strong drive to serve the University and the natural medicine professions.
  • Familiarity with NUNM policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of current trends in clinical pedagogy and curriculum development
  • Knowledge of instructional discipline to a depth and breadth appropriate to the assignment.
  • Skill in instructing socioeconomically, educationally, and culturally diverse students.
  • Skill in using technology to effectively communicate with students, colleagues, and the community at large.
  • Skill in working both independently and as a team member.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective, collaborative, and collegial relationships with colleagues, students, staff, administrators, alumni, and the public.
  • This in-person position will be based at our campus in Portland, Oregon.
