The Center for AI Safety (CAIS) is a leading research and advocacy organization focused on mitigating societal-scale risks from AI. We work to ensure that AI is developed and deployed safely, aligning its impact with the long-term interests of humanity. This means engaging with policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, and the broader public to build awareness and support for measures that can meaningfully reduce AI risk.
CAIS is seeking a skilled content editor to help us develop compelling writing on the societal impacts and risks of artificial intelligence across our online platforms. You'll work closely with our research and communications teams to shape messaging, structure content, and write compelling copy for a new course and other initiatives aimed at broadening public understanding of AI risks. We want to develop narratives that resonate widely, draw on diverse perspectives, and inspire action across political, cultural, and professional boundaries. This role is ideal for a creative communicator with a strong grasp of AI risks, who can translate complex ideas into engaging, accessible content for a wide range of audiences. You will need to craft messaging that speaks to different audiences, and adapt your style for various platforms and contexts. This is a fast-paced, iterative role where your work will directly inform high-visibility outreach and education campaigns.
We are open to full-time or part-time arrangements. The role is time-limited (3 months), with the possibility of extension. We have a preference for candidates based in San Francisco, but we are open to remote candidates, as well.
