Summary :
Position Summary As the clinical knowledge and practice resource within CRIHB, the Medical Services Director supports both CRIHB headquarters-based departments and CRIHB member Tribal Health Programs (THP). This position serves CRIHB headquarters by providing up-to-date clinical guidance and input for a variety of program needs. Also central to the Director's role is providing administrative and clinically related technical support to Tribal Health Programs, primarily by assisting Medical Directors and Executive Directors of member clinics. Operating as both a strategic advisor and subject matter expert, the Director of Medical Services facilitates networking and support for THP physicians, develops and evaluates quality improvement activities, facilitates continuing medical education activities, and integrates medical delivery systems, including Outreach, Nursing, and Traditional Indian Medicine.

Duties :
Essential Functions 1. Provides technical assistance for clinically-related services and issues arising from participating in Tribal Health Programs, as appropriate. 2. Establishes and supports a network of medical practitioners to foster best practices of medicine using a multi-disciplinary team approach to the provision of health care at the local level. 3. Provides peer review, including provisional assessment of specific treatment modalities, incident review, addressing medical and legal issues, and development of comprehensive incident reports. 4. Assists with recruitment of medical staff, credentialing, and privileging of health professionals. 5. Serves as a liaison between Tribal Health Programs and local, state, and federal public health or healthcare service entities. 6. Provides clinicians of member Tribal Health Programs with timely and appropriate clinical practice updates and guidelines from state, federal, academic, or other authoritative sources. 7. Fosters and assists THP in preparation for accreditation or re-accreditation of Tribal Health Programs through agencies such as AAAHC and JCAHO. 8. Fosters integration of Traditional Indian Medicine and health practices in the Revised 10 / 27 / 25 clinical setting. 9. Assists in the writing and development of contract and grant proposals in furtherance of CRIHB's purpose. 10. Performs other duties requiring medical input and oversight as assigned. 11. Designs and implements educational conferences for CRIHB member program provider staff on an annual basis. 12. Regular and predictable attendance. 13. Performs other related duties as required and assigned. Additional Responsibilities 1. Maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license and ability to be insurable under CRIHB's automobile insurance. 2. The position may require occasional overnight travel within CRIHB's service area. 3. Requires the ability to drive up to 7 hours a day.
Qualifications :
Qualifications 1. Current, active, and unrestricted California Physician's and Surgeon's License is required. Board Certification in a primary care specialty such as Family Practice or Internal Medicine is required to meet CRIHB's professional standards for this position.
