Library Branch Manager
The purpose of this position is to manage the operation and staff of a community library branch. Develop overall service plan, staff development and branch coordination of library services and programming. This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Essential functions include supervising and evaluating assigned staff, coordinating and reviewing work, assisting in budget preparation, preparing and submitting statistical reports, conducting research, assisting patrons with the selection and location of books and other materials, serving on committees, assisting the public with the use of library materials and equipment, receiving and resolving complaints, promoting programs and services, facilitating meetings, developing staff training programs, providing customer service, outreach and technology assistance, making recommendations regarding policy and procedure development, leading the development and maintenance of materials collections, working with library leadership to set and monitor progress of branch goals and strategies, ensuring building and grounds are properly maintained, and managing community library branch programs, events, services and outreach.
Minimum education and experience requirements include a Master's Degree in Library Science and three (3) years of library supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Other requirements include holding and maintaining a Professional certification in the State of Kentucky, being eligible for certificate of Librarianship from the State Board for the Certification of Librarians, and possessing and maintaining a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
