SUMMARY :
Under the supervision of a professional registered nurse, and within hospital and departmental policies and procedures, performs a variety of activities to provide nursing care to patients. Administers nursing care to individuals with varying levels of mental health disorders and developmental disabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
Collaborates with the professional registered nurse and assess patient response to treatment. Provides input into the development of the nursing care plan and support and reinforces teaching done by the registered nurse. Documents data collection and observations in the medical record. Collaborates with the professional registered nurse in implementation of the plan of care in preparation for and completion of discharge, including referrals and discharge instructions. Receives assignments and takes directions from the nurse manager or designee. Reports pertinent changes in patient conditions to a registered nurse at the time they occur. Performs related routine duties as prescribed in the Nurse Practice Act of the state of Rhode Island. Maintains quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control, in accordance with established hospital department policies, procedures, and objectives. Completes safety checks and 1 : 1 monitoring as prescribed. Performs other duties as necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
BASIC KNOWLEDGE : Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing with current licensed to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Rhode Island. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association. In each step of the care process, demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging process, human development stage, and culture patterns. EXPERIENCE : One-year licensed practical nurse work experience. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Prolonged standing and walking. Exposed to all patient elements. May be required to lift / turn patients and equipment. Repeated bending, squatting, stooping. INDEPENDENT ACTION : Performs related routine duties as prescribed in the Nurse Practice Act of the state of Rhode Island, and in conjunction within hospital and Department of Nursing policies and procedures. Plans and organizes priorities for effective patient care within the scope of existing departmental policies, generally refers specific problems to supervisor where clarification of departmental policies and procedures maybe required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY : None.
Pay Range : $23.81-$39.28
