Position Overview
The IT Senior Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing medium to large-scale enterprise IT projects. This role works closely with cross-functional technical teams, business stakeholders, and the end-user community to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with organizational standards. The Senior PM operates under the general direction of the IT Director of Applications and manages specific application domains as assigned.
Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Lead and manage medium to large-scale, enterprise-wide IT projects , ensuring effective mobilization of resources across multiple teams.
- Define project structure, create detailed project plans, develop milestones, and manage all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Oversee release management activities including establishing release guidelines, managing release inventory, and executing project closure processes.
- Publish regular metrics, dashboards, and status reports , and conduct periodic review meetings with senior leadership.
- Ensure full adherence to audit standards, SOX requirements , and internal operational controls.
- Define and secure approval for project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Develop and maintain contingency plans, risk mitigation strategies , and comprehensive issue / risk logs.
- Support the resolution of project issues and proactively mitigate risks to ensure project continuity.
- Act as a liaison between functional and technical teams , facilitating communication and alignment across departments.
- Assist in selecting appropriate project methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) and drive documentation standards for project teams.
Basic Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.5+ years of experience in an IT or Project Management environment.Project Management certification (PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP) preferred.Strong knowledge of Project Management tools and methodologies , including Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall.Ability to travel up to 20% to various business units.Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks, strong relationship-building capabilities, and excellent communication skills.Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with transportation or logistics applications , particularly supporting field services.Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps for managing user stories, tasks, and project tracking.Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, reporting).Knowledge of logistics tools such as Descartes .Experience working independently with minimal supervision.Background in the Hazardous Waste (HAZ Waste) or environmental services industry is a plus.Work Environment
