Position Scope And Organizational Impact :
A Dock Experts Delivery Driver / Material Handler supports continuity, efficiency, and timeliness in our ability to deliver an exceptional customer experience. This role requires strong reliability, safety focus, and a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL-C) to support. The primary responsibility of this role is the safe and efficient transport of construction materials, tools, and heavy equipment between our warehouse / yard and various job sites. This position also requires a strong focus on material handling, inventory management, and maintaining a safe, organized work environment in compliance with all DOT, OSHA, and company regulations.
Essential Job Functions
Driving & Transport
- Safely operate commercial vehicles (e.g., flatbeds, vehicles with trailers, etc.) to transport materials and heavy equipment to and from construction sites and the warehouse / yard.
- Perform thorough pre and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and cargo to ensure everything is in safe, working condition and properly secured for transit.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local transportation laws and regulations, including hours-of-service (HOS) requirements and maintaining accurate driver logs and paperwork.
- Plan routes effectively using GPS and other available resources to ensure timely and efficient deliveries, communicating any potential delays to supervisors and site managers.
Material Handling & Warehouse
Load and unload materials and equipment, both manually and using equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and potentially heavy machinery (e.g., excavators, loaders).Verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments against purchase orders, work orders, and manifests, reporting any damages, shortages, or discrepancies immediately.Organize, store, and maintain inventory of materials and equipment in the warehouse / yard in a safe and efficient manner, potentially handling hazardous materials according to safety guidelines.Assist with general warehouse duties, including cleaning, organizing shelves / racks, performing cycle counts, and participating in physical inventories as required.Prepare parcels and shipments for returns or warranty claims, completing all necessary documentation.Safety & Maintenance
Follow all company safety protocols and adhere to OSHA safety standards and guidelines while on the road, in the warehouse, and on job sites.Perform routine maintenance and minor mechanical repairs on the delivery vehicle and small equipment as needed, reporting major issues promptly.Ensure the work environment (vehicle and warehouse area) is kept clean, neat, and organized.Requirements
Essential Job, Education, and Experience Requirements
Education : High school diploma or GED equivalentLicense : Possess a Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL-C) and a clean driving recordExperience : Proven experience as a CDL Driver and in material handling, ideally within the construction or a related industryEquipment Operation : Proficiency in operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and potentially heavy machinery for loading / unloadingPhysical Ability : Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally, with physical stamina to work in various weather conditions and environmentsSkills : Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills. Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a teamCompliance : Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulationsAbility to pass a drug test (marijuana included in the list of prohibited substances) and commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplaceAbility to pass a background checkMaintain reliable personal transportation to commute to and from workConversational in EnglishIdeal Candidate Attributes
