Job Summary

The Chief Engineer oversees all maintenance operations and team members. The Chief Engineer is responsible for maintaining the overall physical condition of the hotel and requires a high level of specialized expertise in all areas of responsibility. The Chief Engineer ensures labor and quality standards are upheld and assists with establishing a positive work environment, delivering exceptional guest service and administering policies and procedures established by the company and the hotel brand.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs and assigns established preventative maintenance programs for equipment, guestrooms, meeting space, and all other areas of the hotel
• Performs repairs of minor mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and building-related components
• Oversees maintenance department with efforts relating to training, scheduling , and counseling
• Coordinates and m anage s all maintenance projects and outside contract ors including gathering proposals, making recommendations, creating tim elines , and resolving issues
• Provide s training and coaching to direct reports
• Maintains pool areas according to company and brand standards in addition to applicable state and local codes
• Maintains external property appearance including lawn, landscaping and parking lot
• Monitors and oversees department budget including payroll and product inventories
• Ensures compliance with all required health, safety and security standards and procedures
• Monitors and oversees inventory of equipment, tools and supplies
• Maintains basic knowledge of fire safety equipment, refrigeration, pool and elevator operation
• Maintains operational knowledge of common power and hand tools
• Assists team members and other departments as needed to contribute to operational efficiency
• P rocess es purchase orders and invoices for payment
• Performs a dditional responsibilities as assigned by l eadership
