Description
Under general supervision, instructor will teach small group of adult students (12 to 15) within local prison facility. Course content includes adult literacy skills in general reading, writing, and mathematics. Instructor will assist students in learning specified subject matter using curriculum provided by the College. Students vary in skill levels, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences.
Schedule : Varies (part-time, weekdays)
Rate : $18 per hour
Primary Duties
- Facilitates individual and group instruction activities to help adult learners improve their general reading, writing, and math skills
- Delivers engaging instructional activities and lessons for adult learners
- Discusses and helps set appropriate goals with each student (academic, employment, community)
- Maintains accurate records and related paperwork to be submitted to the office in a punctual manner
- Sustains positive, professional relationships and communication with students as well as college and prison staff
- Communicates effectively with the administrative team in person, through email, and by telephone
- Participates in staff development sessions, trainings, and other college functions as appropriate
- No outside class duties required
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree requiredWorking knowledge of personal computers and related software (email, web browser)Good interpersonal and communication skillsConsiderable discretion in the handling of confidential information and sensitive materials
