About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) to join its senior leadership team and lead the development and communications functions. The CAO will be responsible for designing and implementing a community-centered, equity-driven advancement strategy that integrates fundraising, storytelling, and partnership building. This role is pivotal in guiding a major comprehensive campaign, deepening donor relationships, and amplifying the organization's public voice to drive impact. The ideal candidate will be a values-driven and equity-grounded leader with a proven track record in nonprofit fundraising, including securing major gifts and leading complex initiatives. They should have exceptional communication skills, a commitment to racial equity, and a deep understanding of community-centric philanthropy. Applicants for the CAO position at the company should have at least 8 years' of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, and communications, with a focus on management. The role requires a strategic thinker with strong planning, budgeting, and data-driven decision-making skills, as well as proficiency in donor management software and Microsoft / Google Suites. Preferred qualifications include a background in housing, family services, or related social impact sectors, and experience in senior leadership within a nonprofit organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for team management, including recruitment, training, and fostering a positive, inclusive work environment. They will also oversee the organization's external communications, marketing, and media relations, ensuring that all messaging is consistent, values-aligned, and centered on the mission of preventing family homelessness and promoting stability through education, advocacy, and systems change.
