Job Title : Model Risk Manager

Location : CityScape

What you'll do :

As a Model Risk Manager, you'll work closely with the Model Validation Director to identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor model risk, and contribute to the development of the bank’s Model Risk Management program. You'll conduct independent testing / validation to assess model accuracy and robustness under different scenarios and market conditions to quantify model risks due to model limitations then develop compensating controls. You'll develop high-quality validation reports that highlight risks and limitations of models and communicate findings.

  • Independently conduct hands-on validation / testing work with minimal supervision.
  • Leverages statistical, financial, economic, and business expertise to conduct and / or oversee independent model validation activities outlined in the bank’s Model Risk Management Policy and Federal Reserve SR 11-7 (e.g., evaluating conceptual soundness, reviewing ongoing monitoring plans and reports, and conducting outcomes analysis).
  • Enhance policies and procedures, assist with model governance activities to ensure model risk issues are effectively remediated.
  • Write high quality model validation reports and / or presentations.
  • Keeps abreast of research and trends in statistical modeling and model risk management.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff members. May lead and develop a team in the future; responsible for hiring, coaching, performance management, training and development.

What you'll need :

  • 7+ years of related experience validating and / or developing CCAR / CEL models (e.g., PD, LGD, EAD models) in the financial service industry.
  • Master’s degree is required; PhD is preferred, in a quantitative field (e.g., statistics, economics, mathematics, computer / data science)
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and / or other commercial banking products and services.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects and on tight deadlines.
  • 2+ years of experience in supervising model development or model validation
  • Advanced project management skills, with the ability to work independently on multiple projects and on tight deadlines.
  • Advanced ability to lead and develop less experienced professionals.
  • Advanced quantitative modeling, analytical, research and programming skills.
  • Advanced expertise in one of the following : SAS, R, Python along with SQL experience
  • Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
