The Impact You Will Make in this Role :
As an Occupational Health Nurse , you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by :
Provides clinical assessment for employees with work related injury / illness and facilitates appropriate medical care.
Leads case and care management planning for occupational and non-occupational illness and injury, collaborating with vendor(s) or appropriate parties to determine return to work / disability management plan.
Assists employees with FMLA and Workers Compensation paperwork and process.
Provides disability management for open Workers Compensation claims which may include :
Coordination of medical care and return to work.
Assisting with referral appointments
Care management
Communicating with third parties about case management plan and needs adaptations.
Monitor injured / ill employees with restrictions towards full return to work.
Facilitates the reasonable accommodation process for employees with work restrictions.
Provides backup nurse triage for other clinic nurse roles.
Documenting worker medical encounters in appropriate systems, maintaining proper documentation while preserving medical confidentiality according to 3M and medical practice standards.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution (completed and verified prior to start)
Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Minnesota, or ability to readily obtain.
Two (2) years of clinical nursing experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Two (2) years of experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems in a private, public, government or military environment.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include :
Nurse case management experience
Certification(s) / willingness to obtain :
Council for Accreditation Occupational Hearing Conservation
National Institute of Safety and Health (NIOSH) Spirometry training
American Board of Occupational Health (COHN, COHN-S and / or Case Management)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification (that includes AED)
Knowledge and experience with disability management, basic ergonomics, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and state privacy acts, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), applicable Workers’ Compensation statutes, and applicable Nurse Practice Act.
Work location : On site in Maplewood, MN
Travel : May include up to 10 % domestic and international
