JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE : Behavior Specialist MTSS TITLE IV

REPORTS TO : Director Guidance & Counseling & Mental Health

WAGE / HOUR STATUS : Exempt

PAY GRADE : AI-2

PRIMARY PURPOSE :

The Behavior Specialist for MTSS is responsible for organizing and providing recommendations to implement services as a behavioral resource to teachers administrators counselors and parents. The overall goal is to help build capacity for campus staff to be able to implement effective intervention plans and respond appropriately to students with behavioral concerns.

QUALIFICATIONS : Required :

• Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university
• Three years experience working with youth identified as struggling learners including behavioral concerns
• Three years experience working within the school system

WORKING CONDITIONS :

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands : physical mobility prolonged sitting / stationary some transporting (lifting carrying pushing and / or pulling). This position requires traveling to facilities throughout the district. Mental demands : Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; ability to interpret a variety of data; ability to apply appropriate statues codes and SISD policy; ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory ability to be effective in both oral and written communication; ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
