Specific Duties
- Offer individual coaching appointments, as well as drop-in coaching, to assist students with skills that may be hindering their success, such as time management, achieving balance, goal-setting and accountability, managing academic anxiety, etc. Appointments are held in-person and online within the ASC and at other university locations as necessary
- Collaborate with academic support staff to develop and facilitate programming for various populations, including Living Learning Communities, Academic Warning and Probation students, Reinstatement students, First Generation and Peer Mentoring program, students with disabilities, and other populations as assigned
- Develop supplemental ASC materials as assigned by ASC professional staff (ASC academic coaching materials & student resources, webinars / workshops, promotional materials, etc.)
- Attend ASC all-staff training as well as weekly coach meetings to discuss and learn about best practices, student populations served, etc.
- Gather and report accurate data for each student and / or session
- Other duties as assigned by ASC Director and / or Professional Staff
Minimum Qualifications
A strong academic background (minimum overall GPA of 3.25).Self-motivation, self-regulation, and a desire to mature and learn in a professional teaching / learning environmentAbility to listen to the needs of students, communicate effectively, and work cooperatively in setting realistic and productive goals that promote student successSensitivity to the diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds of ASC studentsDependability, personal accountability, and the ability to collaborate effectively with othersDesire to support peers’ social and emotional wellness, as well as their academic and professional endeavorsMust be a current ULV studentPreferred Qualifications
Previous academic support experience, particularly in supporting students with documented disabilitiesPrevious tutoring experienceLeadership experience and campus involvementBenefits Summary Employees are eligible for the following benefits :
