Description :

We have two operating departments with a main OR consisting of 26 rooms and another with a 7-room mix of inpatient and outpatient surgeries.

Your primary assignment will be in the 7-room unit with occasional floating to the main OR as needed.

The typical case load in the 7-room unit includes a variety of surgical procedures.

General surgeries include hernias, appendectomies, cholecystectomies, Nissen fundoplications, PEG placements, and gastrointestinal work.

Colorectal surgeries consist of both open and laparoscopic bowel resections, some using robotic assistance.

Gynecological cases cover both oncological and benign procedures performed open, laparoscopic, or robotic, including D&C, hysteroscopy, LEEP, and tubal ligations.

Urological procedures include cystoscopy, stent placements, TURB, TURP, percutaneous procedures, and nephrectomies and cystectomies, both open and robotic.

Breast surgeries include biopsies and mastectomies, often with reconstruction.

Eye surgeries occur three times a month, including plastics, cataracts, and vitrectomies.

You will assist with brachytherapy device insertion, primarily coordinated by the radiation oncology team.

Plastic surgeries are typically associated with breast procedures or gender affirmation.

Uro-Gyn surgeries involve sling placements and anterior-posterior repairs.

Most robotic surgeries are in the fields of urology and gynecology, with some bariatric cases.

The unit operates Monday through Friday and typically concludes by 7-8 PM.

If the schedule allows, staff may float to the main OR to complete the day’s assignments or assist when the main OR is short-staffed.

Obligations will include two weekend on-call shifts and six shifts from 11 AM to 7 : 45 PM per contract, with no additional weekend obligations.
