I&C / LSS / Senior Security Cost Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled I&C / LSS / Senior Security Cost Engineer based in Scottsdale, AZ, to lead complex I&C design efforts on advanced technology and high-tech manufacturing projects. This leadership role involves managing multi-disciplinary teams, coordinating with clients and stakeholders, and overseeing the development of instrumentation systems, control strategies, and system documentation across all phases of design and construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Engineers and Designers on large and complex projects. Maintain and foster morale and culture within the team.
- Interact and coordinate with project management, vendors, clients, design members and fellow engineers to solve complex process engineering and piping issues.
- Support Business Development Activities as required.
- Review and develop Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) in conjunction with Process and Mechanical Engineers.
- Select, apply, and specify instrumentation required to support processes.
- Develop Instrument Data Sheets and lists, Panel layouts and details.
- Ability to arrange Instrumentation & Controls equipment on plan drawings and create single-line diagrams.
- Develop Sequences of Operation for Processes in conjunction with Process and Mechanical Engineers.
- Verify that the design is consistent with industry-accepted practice, leading-edge technologies and special client-preferred features.
- Controls / Systems Engineering experience involving : DCS, PLC, MES, SCADA, bus technologies, Ethernet / IP.
- Perform self QA / QC on deliverables, as well as on deliverables by other engineers.
- Complete engineering studies and reports.
- Participate in Services During Construction activities including reviewing RFI's, submittals, responding to design change notices, issuing field change bulletins, attending site walk-throughs and issuing field observation reports, developing operational and functional acceptance tests, developing record drawings and producing other system documentation.
- Understand and work within the scope, schedule, deliverables, and man-hours budgeted for assigned tasks.
- Support, by active participation, corporate and discipline-specific procedures, and policies.
- Regularly collaborate with global and US engineering counterparts with respect to technology advancements, lessons learned, and design techniques and calculations.
- Contribute to the development of the Discipline knowledge base and standards.
- Attend self-improvement seminars and / or courses and professional society meetings in areas of focus.
- Perform technical and business presentations with clients and employees
- Mentor junior engineers on basic engineering applications and principals
- Assist in the selection and development of the I&C engineering staff
- Maintain continuous positive relationships with staff, other disciplines and clients
- Participate in Client interviews and proposal development
- Produce and review 2D and 3D design drawings for high technology facilities in accordance with project requirements, codes, specifications, and procedures.
- Participate in multi-discipline coordination & clash checking efforts
- Site surveys of existing services to ascertain "as-built" conditions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical / Controls, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is required. Ambitions to obtain professional licensure are highly desired and supported.
Experience
Minimum 510 years of experience in engineering, drafting, and design. Proven ability to lead small teams and collaborate with multidisciplinary project groups.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in creating, reading, and interpreting engineering drawings related to electrical instrumentation and controls.Experience using relevant software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, SKM, or other applicable engineering platforms.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) and International Building Codes (IBC) is preferred.Soft Skills
Highly motivated, well-organized, and demonstrates professional initiative.Strong ability to multitask and manage competing priorities across multiple projects.Effective in both independent and collaborative work settings.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Industry Experience (Preferred)
Experience supporting cost management on advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, or mission-critical projects with complex electrical scopes.
Preferred Certification
Professional accreditation MRICS, AssocRICS, CCP, CEP, CPE, or equivalent.
