Deputy Warden - C7 - Security

Warden Position

Columbus Consolidated Government is offering a full-time regular position for a Warden in the Muscogee County Prison. The salary is $100,000.00 annually, and the location is Columbus, GA.

The position is open continuously since April 30, 2025.

The major duties and responsibilities include :

• Assisting the Warden in overseeing the day-to-day operation of the prison.
• Assuming responsibility for operation of the prison in the absence of the Warden.
• Overseeing the provision of inmate security.
• Investigating rule violations and charges against inmates and officers.
• Ensuring that personnel adhere to state and department rules and regulations.
• Attending required seminars and training sessions.
• Supervising and scheduling the work of institute employees.
• Organizing search parties in the event of an escape.
• Ensuring that all areas relating to security are ready for inspection by the state.
• Performing daily inspections of the isolation area and the rest of the prison.
• Ensuring that disciplinary reports and procedures are carried out in compliance with GDC regulations.
• Holding regular supervisor meetings.
• Disciplining subordinates as necessary.
• Authorizing inmates to participate in detail; monitoring outside details.
• Performing background checks and conducting interviews for new applicants for employment.
• Giving CERT team directions.
• Performing other related job duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include :

Minimum educational and training requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Correctional or Security Management, Criminal Justice, Public or Business Administration, or related field. A Master's Degree is preferred. Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of progressive responsibility within the field of corrections to include five (5) years in a supervisory management capacity. This position is required to supervise state inmate labor. Employee must be P.O.S.T. certified. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Retirement Plan : The Columbus Consolidated Government offers a defined benefit retirement plan to eligible employees who work in General Government and in Public Safety. The current vesting period is ten years, and the current pension contribution rate is 8% of your gross salary.
