Mechanical Engineer III

Job Description

We are looking for a motivated, hands-on, passionate individual to develop new space hardware for communication satellites. In this position, you will own the complete lifecycle of space hardware from initial electricalRF design concept to production unit delivery. Perform mechanical analyses vibration, thermal, radiation on new product designs to ensure survival to launch and on-orbit environments. Rapidly prototype iterate on designs. Act as Manufacturing Engineering representative on Integrated Product Team for one or more projects. Evaluate tooling and fixturing needs for new products and repeat orders. Ensure needed items are in place in time to begin production. Create shop floor travelers for items on assigned projects. Prepare Manufacturing Readiness Review package and present to internal team and customers. Review designs for manufacturability within the context of Integrated Product Team. Troubleshoot manufacturing difficulties, using lean manufacturing tools. Resolve quickly to resume production. Work strategic process improvement projects as background. Able to keep projects moving in the background along with time-critical tactical tasks. Skills Required

BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. 3+ yrs exp with mechanical or electro-mechanical design, analysis or manufacturing. CAD and FEA software exp. GDT knowledge. Background in aerospace, space or defense industry. Skills Preferred

Masters Degree preferred. 5+ yrs exp in mechanical engineering preferably in design and analysis of electronicsmicrowave packaging for space applications. SolidWorks preferred.
