Job Summary :

We are hiring a Structured Cabling Superintendent to lead the planning, execution, and quality assurance of large-scale structured cabling and fiber optic infrastructure projects. This role oversees field operations, manages project crews, and ensures alignment with client specifications, safety protocols, and installation standards. The ideal candidate has a strong background in structured cabling and fiber systems, proven leadership in managing teams, and the ability to drive projects to successful completion on time and within scope.

Key Responsibilities :

Project Leadership & Oversight

  • Supervise daily field operations for commercial and data center cabling projects.
  • Manage multiple crews (10 technicians), assigning tasks, overseeing performance, and ensuring productivity.
  • Serve as primary on-site contact for general contractors, clients, and project managers.
  • Conduct site walk-throughs, safety meetings, and enforce compliance with OSHA and internal safety protocols.
  • Interpret blueprints and site documentation; identify and communicate design changes or conflicts.
  • Submit and track change orders, material requests, and labor forecasts to the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate scheduling of workforce and materials to meet project deadlines.

Technical Expertise & Quality Control

  • Provide advanced technical direction on the installation, termination, and testing of fiber optic and low voltage cabling systems.
  • Oversee fiber splicing (fusion and ribbon), OTDR / Fluke testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Lead the installation of server racks, ladder trays, fiber tray systems, power trays, and customer network equipment.
  • Ensure proper cable management, dressing, labeling, and documentation standards are met.
  • Monitor jobsite inventory, receive and organize materials, and assist with hardware assembly as needed.
  • Perform quality control inspections to guarantee work aligns with scope and client standards.
  • Job Requirements :

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 5 years of structured cabling and fiber optic installation experience.
  • Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or superintendent-level role.
  • Expertise in fiber splicing, cable testing, and network infrastructure.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds, work on ladders / lifts, and remain on feet throughout shifts.
  • Must possess basic hand tools, steel / composite toe boots, and PPE.
