Shipping & Warehouse Supervisor
As the Shipping & Warehouse Supervisor at our Milwaukee location, you will be responsible for directing the actions of team members who perform receiving, storage, packing and shipping functions in support of all Milwaukee operations and functions. This position requires strong leadership skills and working knowledge of a fast pace warehouse and distribution functions. You will ensure all warehouse operations are safe, efficient, and cost effective. You will mentor staff, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring operating and safety standards are being met. This position is responsible for a multiple shift warehouse team requiring flexibility during the week and weekends, as required.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities :
- Identify and proactively plan for potential changes in demand, resource availability, potential expedited shipments and freight bottlenecks to minimize impact to our customers, associates and financial performance.
- Create, standardize, coordinate, communicate and supervise daily tasks, reports, records, shipments and inventory plans delivering results that meet or exceed Kanban & Delivery KPI's.
- Organize and sustain all storage areas to maximize space utilization using best practice inventory techniques.
- Build consistency and simplicity in the way processes are documented, executed and sustained by utilizing standard work, structured business processes and ensuring associates are adequately trained.
- Streamline associated business processes to eliminate complexity and build consistency.
- Assist with inventory cycle counting, analyze results and help to permanently resolve any significant variances.
- Coordinate with key stakeholders to find innovative solutions and create execution plans when roadblocks arise to delivering high quality products on time.
- Clearly communicate job performance expectations and coach team members to ensure accountability.
- Measure associate performance, address performance issues and recognize top performing associates.
- Meet with team regularly to identify, analyze, troubleshoot and resolve problems.
- Implement appropriate safety guidelines and investigate injuries or unsafe conditions.
- Assess work content, balance workload across team members and propose optimum staffing levels.
- Produce timely reports consisting of key metrics, data analysis and status updates as requested.
- Review shipping, receiving and inventory records to ensure compliance, completion and retention with applicable regulatory entities such as NAFTA, Sorbanes-Oxley & DOT.
- Regularly review lift vehicles, submit work orders for noncompliance and follow-up to ensure timely repairs.
- Escalate potential issues / concerns and recommend solutions to managers ensuring timely problem resolution.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
This role will have supervisory responsibilities for hourly union associates which will include interviewing, training, planning / prioritizing work, appraising performance, providing constructive feedback, development planning, succession planning and working with human resources to address all disciplinary / associate issues as necessary.
Qualifications :
Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as Planning, Shipping and Warehouse Supervisor.Minimum high school diploma with additional equivalent experience.Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or logistics is preferred.Highly effective supervisory skills and techniques with a hands-on commitment to getting the job done.Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite, especially MS Excel.Collect, analyze & interpret data to develop insightful solutions, and present clearly & concisely.The ability to influence others through great communication skills.The ability to identify complex problems while reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solution.The ability to manage projects and work in a team project environment.Proficiency with MRP / ERP / AS400 / Kanban tools preferred.Strattec Security Corporation is an equal opportunity employer and practices affirmative action to recruit, hire, train, upgrade, transfer and promote persons in all job titles without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.
