At Howmet Aerospace in Hampton, VA, your expertise in radiographic testing keeps industrial gas turbine castings and structural components flightworthy. As an experienced RT Level II professional, you will standardize equipment, capture precise X-ray images, analyze indications, and document outcomes—turning data into decisions that matter.
What a Typical Day Looks Like
- Prepare, set up, and standardize X-ray systems; process parts and films with rigor.
- Interpret radiographs to determine acceptance or rejection and record results accurately.
- Perform system performance checks and calibrations to applicable process standards and customer requirements.
- Develop work instructions from approved procedures (final approval by the X-ray Level III).
- Provide guidance and oversight to Level I personnel and trainees.
- Apply deep knowledge of radiography technique scope, limitations, codes, standards, and contractual controls.
- Communicate findings, present information, and respond to questions from management.
- Use math daily : proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and fundamentals of algebra and geometry.
- Problem-solve non-routine scenarios where only limited standardization exists; interpret written, verbal, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a certified Level II film radiography inspector.Current or previous X-ray film Level II certification aligned with one of the following industry standards : ASNT SNT-TC-1A or AIA / NAS-410.Ability to pass Howmet’s required certification exams with a composite score of 80% or higher (renewable every five years); documentation of certification status required.Rewards and Benefits
