SUMMARY
To identify, recruit and provide services to a selected number of Upward Bound Math Science (UBMS) students within a five-county area. At UBMS we strive to provide educational counseling including setting goals, financial aid education, career exploration, preparation to increase college acceptance and encouraging completion of both a secondary and postsecondary education. UBMS is required to continually track and document postsecondary students to ensure their successful completion of a postsecondary degree within six years of high school graduation and assurance of meeting or exceeding program objectives. The services provided include counseling in social, personal and academic areas.
These services are directed to promote the successful post-secondary placement for former Upward Bound Math Science students who have completed high school.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor’s Degree and / or pursuant of Master's Degree in Counseling, Education, Human Resources, or related field. Emphasis will be placed on candidates with experience in TRIO programs or are former TRIO participant. Experience as an academic counselor, math or science instructor in the secondary school system is also preferred. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills.
Having the ability to relate to students, parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators in a positive manner along with excellent written and communication skills. The candidate must exhibit a high degree of professionalism and possess knowledge of academic resources, along with educational and financial aid strategies. The candidate should possess excellent customer service skills and have the ability to work in a team environment and relate well to our students and their families.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree and / or pursuant of Master's Degree in Counseling, Education, Human Resources, or related field.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent written, verbal and computer skills. Academic capabilities. Knowledge of current high school age student challenges and ways to help motivate students in their personal goals. Skills include :
academic counseling (personal and groups).

SALARY RANGE : $34,000 - $35,000
