The Role

As a Software Engineer, Systems , you'll design and implement the low-level capabilities of Daft's distributed data engine. You'll work on everything from execution engine internals to query optimization, distributed scheduling, and integrations with modern data lakes. This is a hands-on role where you'll shape both the product and its technical foundation while collaborating closely with customers and the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Build core system internals and distributed architecture for the Daft data engine.
• Optimize query planning and execution using modern database techniques.
• Improve memory stability through streaming computation and efficient data structures.
• Enhance task scheduling, resource utilization, and fault tolerance.
• Develop integrations with Apache Parquet, Iceberg, Delta Lake, and other modern data lake technologies.
• Engage with customers, debug workloads, and help shape product direction.
• Contribute broadly to infrastructure, design, and system performance improvements.
