POSITION : Event Technology Supervisor
DEPARTMENT : Media Services
REPORTS TO : Manager, Media Services
POSITION SUMMARY : Provide technical support for events and meetings equivalent to the standards of the holder. To communicate with technical and nontechnical people professionally. To act as a supervisor to Part-time, and student staff. In addition will provide back-up support to the office manager with the ability to independently and correctly set-up, tear-down, and trouble-shoot an assortment of audio-visual equipment in a variety of venues and classrooms.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Prior work experience in media services, multimedia / audio-visual lab, or multimedia event venue
- Flexible work schedule with availability to work evenings and weekends; work occasional early mornings before 7 a.m.
- Expertise with live event audio such as microphones, mixers, and speakers
- Experience with projectors, video conferencing, PC and Mac platforms
- Some knowledge and experience with camcorders and stage lighting preferred
- Experience with virtual meetings using Teams and Zoom
- Manage department venues and conference rooms
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel
- Effectively manage multiple tasks, requests and projects simultaneously
- Excellent organization and problem solving skills
- Commitment to a high level of customer service
- Prior supervisory experience preferred
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up and tear down of wide range of events and meetings for Student Activities and VIP customers.Process, schedule, and maintain meeting / event equipment requests.Communicate and coordinate with Conference & Events Services staff.Staff and assist with a wide range of events and meetings for Student Activities and VIP customers.Train part-time and student workers in delivering, setting up, and striking various sets for meetings and events.Supervisor and manage small support staff.Maintain existing venue and meeting room equipment (installed and mobile).Troubleshoot a variety of audio and visual problems and ability to offer suitable replacement in a timely manner.Assist and train faculty and students using equipment for small meetings and events.Maintain documentation and procedural information.Manage inventory of equipment in closets, venues, meeting rooms, and in office.Supervise office in absence of Manager.Assist in classroom deliveries when lack of adequate support is available.Assist Manager with various projects and trainings.Assist AV Technology Specialist with various technology usage and projects.Other related duties as assigned.Working Environment : Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings.
Physical Demands :
Job requires repetitively lifting average weight objects with repetitive bending and stooping. Frequently lifts heavy objects but alternatively with lighter activities. job may require physical exertion such as long period of standing. Job may require above-average agility and dexterity.
Mobility in the office. Ability to walk, sit, stand and climb stairs. Ability to use hands and fingers, to handle office equipment, records and files. Occasionally required to reach with arms and hands, and to stoop, kneel or crouch. Vision abilities required by this job include the ability to read and discern written errors on paper and electronic documents. Ability to talk and hear. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds. Ability to climb ladder up to 6'.
