JOB SUMMARY

Code.org is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with 12+ years of senior leadership experience, including 5+ years of executive experience and enterprise planning to join our Executive Team and lead our financial strategy, planning, and operations. You will serve as Code.org's chief architect of resourcing decisions ensuring every investment and operational choice accelerates progress toward our 2030 goals.

As a strategic partner to the President / CEO, the Executive Team, and leaders from across the organization, you will drive org-wide financial and resource planning, optimize organizational performance toward key outcomes, and champion innovation through AI-enabled operations and data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate combines strategic FP&A expertise, mission-driven financial leadership, and systems thinking to ensure Code.org's resources are consistently directed toward the highest-return opportunities and anchored in transparent, data-driven stewardship of people, budgets, and systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role you will :

Strategic Financial Leadership

• Serve as the architect and executive driver of Code.org's annual operating plan , translating our 2030 goals into clear financial targets, budgets, headcount plans, and measurable outcomes.
• Lead org-wide FP&A , defining guardrails, KPIs, revenue targets, and evaluation criteria to ensure all investments are tied to ROI and tracked for organizational performance.
• Manage and safeguard Code.org's reserves , ensuring stability, liquidity, and alignment with long-term priorities. Provide transparent reporting to the Executive Team and Board.
• Guide strategic trade-offs and sustainability planning as a key thought partner to the CEO, Executive Team, and Board.

Step 1 : Informational Interview - learn more about the role and share your experience (60 minutes)

Step 2 : Take-Home Assignment (~3 hours)

Step 3 : Interviews with members of the Code.org executive team (~4.5 hours)

Step 4 : Additional interviews with Code.org's team (~3 hours)

Step 5 : Team Meet & Greets (~2 hours)

Step 6 : Final interview ( in person , ~2 hours)

Step 7 : Reference Checks

With the exception of the final round interview, all interviews will be conducted virtually via Zoom

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS PACKAGE

The expected salary range for this position is $240,000 - $275,000, and it is bonus-eligible.. Most offers are on the lower end of the salary range and are at the company's sole discretion based on the final candidate's experience. This allows us to provide a fair and equitable approach to compensation when setting pay and maintaining internal pay equity.
