Technical Trainer - Rail

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Instructs training programs and oversees performance and written testing of students undergoing training and supervises the training of students in shops and other work areas.  Includes periodic instruction of management personnel.   Training programs will pertain to computer network troubleshooting and analysis, IGBT Power electronics troubleshooting and analysis, hydraulics theory and application, and / or Communications Technology including :   Voice over IP, analog-digital conversion, and video.
• Develops training programs, instructor guideline manuals and all handout materials including illustrative artwork, photography, videotapes, etc.  Develops training, retraining, pilot and special programs in the functional areas listed in the Position Summary.
• Researches maintenance manuals, service bulletins or OSHA and related Federally mandated legislation to develop training programs related to one of the above functional areas.
• Conducts task analyses and interviews with technically knowledgeable personnel, vendors and contractors within and outside of the Authority and interacts with various supervisory personnel regarding the information necessary in the development of training programs.
• Researches and recommends purchase of training aids, training methodologies and techniques.
• Performs ongoing analysis of the training needs of the Rail Maintenance Department relative to the 5000-series rail cars.
• Monitors training sessions and identifies materials for revision.
• Develops and administers evaluation of existing programs to determine effectiveness of training program content and teaching methodology.
• May perform the duties of the Senior Training Specialist / Instructor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
