Role Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician will support the Sterile Processing Service at the facility by cleaning, sterilizing, assembling, and distributing surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment (RME) in accordance with infection control standards and manufacturer guidelines.
Key Responsibilities :
- Clean, decontaminate, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and RME.
- Operate sterilizers (steam, Sterrad, HLD systems such as Medivator / Trophon).
- Perform biological and chemical testing (e.g., Bowie-Dick test) to verify sterilization.
- Maintain proper documentation of sterilization cycles and quality checks.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionality.
- Distribute and track surgical trays, instruments, and supplies.
- Follow aseptic and infection control practices at all times.
- Work safely in a fast-paced, hot, and humid environment while wearing PPE.
Qualifications :
CRCST (or higher) certification from IAHCSMM / HSPA.Graduate of a CRCST or OR Tech training program with 2+ years current experience.Graduate of a U.S. Military Surgical Tech program with 2+ years SPS experience.VA Level 2 certification with 2+ years SPS experience.Non-certified technicians with 5+ years verifiable SPS hands-on experience.Physical Requirements :
Standing for extended periods.Lifting up to 25 lbs frequently, up to 50 lbs occasionally.Pushing / pulling carts and equipment.Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.Work Schedule :
Monday - Friday (no overtime)Tour 1 : 6 : 30 AM - 3 : 00 PMTour 2 : 10 : 00 AM - 6 : 30 PMTour 3 : 3 : 30 PM - 12 : 00 AM30-minute unpaid meal break (for shifts ≥ 6 hrs)Schedule may change with 24-hour noticeFederal holidays off (no holiday pay)Onsite only - payment for actual hours worked
