Our hotel is looking for a line cook for the evening shift. The line cook prepares and cooks menu items on a specific kitchen station, responsible for setting up their station, ensuring food quality and presentation according to restaurant standards, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation, and managing inventory at their station. Key responsibilities include food preparation (chopping, mixing), cooking via various methods, plating dishes, stocking supplies, and collaborating with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service under the direction of the head chef or sous chef.
- Knowledge of various food preparation techniques.
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and portion controls.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Understanding of health, safety, and food sanitation standards.
- Physical stamina to work long hours, stand for extended periods, and lift heavy items.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Chopping vegetables, mixing ingredients, preparing sauces and stocks, and portioning food according to recipes and restaurant specifications.
- Executing dishes by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other cooking methods to ensure they meet quality and recipe standards.
- Setting up their assigned station with necessary supplies before service and restocking them as needed during the shift.
- Ensuring that all dishes prepared are of high quality, consistent, and presented correctly before being served to customers.
- Maintaining a clean and organized workstation, cleaning equipment, and complying with all food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Performing inventory counts, checking stock levels, and reporting shortages to management.
- Working as part of a team with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and timely service.
