DevOps Engineer

Location : Onsite New York, NY (Flatiron District)

Position Type : Full-Time (Permanent)

Work Policy : In-person, 5 days / week (no remote)

About

This role will own infrastructure scaling and reliability across Extend’s document processing platform, supporting workloads that handle mission-critical unstructured data for customers. The DevOps Engineer will design and implement enterprise-ready deployment pipelines, optimize latency, and build systems for monitoring, debugging, and security isolation while working closely with the founding team.

Compensation

Base Salary : $175,000 - $250,000 (equity included)

Equity : Included (exact amount not disclosed)

Focus : Large-scale document processing, enterprise deployments, performance optimization, observability, security

Role summary

The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for scaling Extend’s infrastructure to support 100x growth, building tooling for enterprise-grade self-hosted deployments, and creating observability systems to ensure performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

Scale infrastructure 100x across API calls, document processing workloads, and terabytes of data

Build deployment pipelines and tooling for one-click enterprise self-hosted deployments

Optimize performance and reduce latency at all layers

Create observability systems that diagnose root causes and prevent recurrence

Design security and isolation boundaries for serving both startups and Fortune 500 clients

Collaborate directly with leadership to influence product and engineering strategy

Must-have qualifications

4-9 years of experience building complex software systems in production environments

Proven experience scaling infrastructure at high-growth startups

Proficiency with modern cloud platforms (AWS and / or GCP)

Expertise with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Kubernetes)

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

Ability to take abstract projects from concept to delivery

High agency, ownership mindset, and ability to thrive in ambiguity

Willingness and ability to work in-person 5 days / week in NYC

Preferred qualifications

Familiarity with developer tools

Former founder experience

Strong educational background (e.g., University of Waterloo, MIT, Caltech)
