Board Operator

WWL Radio (105.3FM / 870AM) has a rare opening for a part-time board operator and studio producer. This role involves managing on-air content, call screening, and creating digital content for WWL.com. Candidates should have experience operating studio consoles for live entertainment programming and be proficient in computer-assisted broadcast programs and social media. Strong writing skills are a must. Applicants need to have a deep knowledge of local (Saints, LSU, Pelicans) and national sports (NFL, NCAA & NBA) as they will be assisting in the sports department as well, creating on-air reports for the weekends on a regular basis, and for weekdays when needed.

We're looking for individuals who are dependable, flexible, and excellent team players. The ideal candidate should thrive in a supporting role, collaborating with a diverse range of host personalities. They must be capable of remaining composed under pressure, particularly during breaking news, major events, and severe weather situations.

Additionally, the role includes call-screening and studio production duties as needed. Successful candidates will demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and possess exceptional communication skills.

What You'll Do :

  • Run the control board, following station format, arranging and playing commercials and IDs according to program and commercial logs
  • Experience operating a studio console and running live entertainment programming
  • Have strong writing skills
  • Follow all applicable laws and FCC regulations

Required & Preferred :

  • Previous experience running a studio board, editing play-by-play highlights and interviews using a digital editing program such as Adobe Audition is required.
  • The ideal candidate will have previous radio experience running a sound board, booking guests, write and editing audio.
  • Previous experience as a radio board operator, preferably at a sports talk radio station / network.
  • Must have experience with digital operating system (Media Touch, Audio Vault, Enco or Profit).
  • Must be a team player, computer savvy and have the flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends, overnights and holidays.
  • Minimum Education Level : HS diploma or equivalent.
