We seek applicants who have a strong background in grant development, proposal writing, and cross-functional collaboration to support institutional funding priorities and growth.

About Central’s Division of Institutional Advancement

The Division of Institutional Advancement supports Central Connecticut State University’s mission by securing philanthropic resources, strengthening community and alumni engagement, and cultivating lasting relationships with donors and partners. The department plays a critical role in advancing the university’s strategic priorities through fundraising and external funding.

Position Profile

The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker and persuasive communicator with a demonstrated record of success in securing grant funding. They will have the ability to collaborate across departments, engage with funding agencies, and manage all aspects of grant research, development, and submission. Strong writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential.

Applicant Evaluative Criteria

Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following :

Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in English, journalism, communications, creative writing, or similar areas.

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Four (4) years of professional experience in grant writing
  • Credentials and / or experience comparable to the above may also be considered.

    The Ideal Candidate

    Preference will be given to applicants with the following :

  • Experience in a higher education or nonprofit setting
  • Experience supervising or leading staff
  • Knowledge of federal and state grant funding processes
  • Familiarity with academic research and working with subject matter experts
  • Proven track record of securing competitive grant funding
  • Ability to align grant proposals with institutional priorities
  • Proficient in grant databases and research platforms
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and grant research databases

    Compensation and Employee Benefits

    The Grants Writer-Institutional Advancement is compensated at the Administrator IV salary level in accordance with the State University Organization of Administrative Faculty (SUOAF) Collective Bargaining Union Agreement.
