Embedded / Firmware Engineer

We're looking for a hands-on Embedded / Firmware Engineer to design and build embedded systems for next-gen defense robotics. You'll own the development of real-time firmware, embedded PCBs, sensor / motor integration, and field-ready electronics that power rugged, edge-deployed platforms.

Job Description
Firmware & Embedded Development
- Write and test embedded firmware for controllers, motor drivers, and sensors
- Implement real-time control loops, sensor acquisition, and signal processing
- Develop firmware testing and debugging tools to ensure reliability
PCB & System Design
Design embedded PCBs integrating MCUs, sensors, drivers, and communication interfacesSimulate and optimize for performance, durability, and noise immunitySensor & Motor Integration
Integrate sensors (IMUs, LiDAR, cameras) and motors into embedded platformsBuild firmware for accurate, efficient motor controlPrototyping & Testing
Assemble and field-test prototypes in rugged outdoor and defense-like conditionsConduct environmental, shock, and vibration testing for reliability validationManufacturing & Scale-Up
Lead design-for-manufacturing (DFM) reviews to ensure production readinessWork closely with vendors and suppliers to meet quality and cost targetsCross-Functional System Integration
Collaborate with mechanical, optical, and robotics teams for full system integrationBuild software interfaces with other computing systems across the platformSupport field deployments with hands-on troubleshooting and guidanceDocumentation & Compliance
Produce schematics, BOMs, wiring diagrams, and firmware documentationEnsure systems meet safety, MIL-STD, and ITAR compliance requirementsQualifications
38 years in embedded systems, firmware development, or roboticsStrong in embedded C / C++, with some PythonFamiliar with RTOS, Altium / KiCad, and debugging toolsExperience with PCB design, sensor integration, motor controlSkilled in designing for EMI / EMC, thermal, and real-world rugged useBS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or related fieldStrong problem-solver with a bias for action and hands-on experimentationComfortable in fast-paced, cross-disciplinary environmentsExcellent communicator and collaboratorExperience with rugged electronics in harsh environmentsFamiliarity with MIL-STD and ITAR complianceBackground in robotics or real-time control systemsActive or eligible for U.S. security clearance
