The University of Michigan's School of Information seeks a detail-oriented, organized, and motivated Managing Editor for the Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication (JCMC). This 20 hour / week position will work most closely with Prof. Nicole Ellison in the -26 academic year, as well as the other members of the EIC team (Prof. Mike Yao, Prof. Teresa Correa, and Prof. Cindy Shen) to ensure manuscript submissions are reviewed and processed in a timely manner and to support the journal?s curation of rigorous and theoretically meaningful scholarly papers.
The primary activities of the person in this role will be to read submissions to the journal and make recommendations about their suitability, working closely with Dr. Ellison. As such, the perfect candidate will be familiar with the journal, its focus on technology-centric theorizing, and the existing literature in this space. This would be a perfect position for someone who enjoys reading and is able to assess the merits (e.g., methodological rigor, theoretical contribution) of computer-mediated communication scholarship.
