Reporting to the President and CEO, the Chief of Staff serves as a strategic advisor and implementer to both the CEO and staff and ensures streamlined activities within the organization based on the priorities of the CEO.

Global Refuge, formerly known as Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS), is a nonprofit serving newcomers seeking safety, support, and a share in the American dream. DUTIES

  • Act as an adviser to the CEO and leadership team
  • Assist the CEO in facilitating effective decision-making
  • Coordinate the execution of strategic initiatives
  • Assess inquiries directed to the CEO, determine the proper course of action and delegate appropriately, bringing key issues to the CEO's attention
  • Ensure all issues are addressed properly, efficiently and judiciously, and keep track of progress until resolved
  • Attends meetings and fills in for CEO in his / her absence
  • Liaison to the Board of Directors including acting as point of contact, sending communications, tracking initiatives, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, ensuring meetings run smoothly, etc.
  • Creates and maintains complex correspondence, documents, and dashboards to monitor progress against goals.
  • Hires and directly manages President's office staff.
  • Creates and maintains strong cross-departmental relationships to ensure the success of the CEO and key initiatives
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years' executive level experience, including experience supporting the principal of a nonprofit organization.
  • Impeccable managerial and interpersonal skills
  • Proven track record of effectively interacting with senior management and the Board
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments
  • Effective, versatile and action-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
