QUALIFICATIONS
- Meets the Federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) qualifications including an associate’s degree or 48 hours of college credit or have passed the ParaProfessional Praxis test
- May be employed on a part time or full time basis
- Meets the health and physical qualifications
REPORTS TO Principal
JOB GOAL To provide assistance to teachers, administrative assistants, and clerical personnel when needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Administers, scores, and records such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual studentsFacilitates student interventions with the guidance and support of a classroom teacherOperates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposesDistributes and collects technology, workbooks, papers, and other materials for instructionAssists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field tripsChecks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and makeup work as assigned by the teacherWorks with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skillsAssumes responsibility for knowing and following the safety rules and proper procedures associated with the responsibilities of the jobChecks and records attendanceArranges bulletin boardsTypes and duplicates tests, worksheets, and supplementary materialsAssists in supervising the children in lunchroom, playground, and bus loadingAssists the teacher in assimilating materials for class displaysPerforms other duties as assignedPHYSICAL DEMANDS
This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 50 lbs., or the average weight of a child, if assigned to elementary grades, with frequent lifting and / or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs., or more. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows :
