Responsibilities

1. Order raw materials for work orders and document material quantities to work orders.

2. Supply and maintain the inventory of bags, boxes, totes, pallets and any other production supplies needed.

3. Thoroughly clean material hoppers, grinders and bins according to the production schedule, as needed and up to quality standards.

4. Supply and maintain regrind usage through the vacuum loading system according to the department procedures.

5. Properly identify and label all materials in bins, grinders and gaylords according to the department procedures.

6. Ensure regrind is properly stored and identified for reuse or resale.

7. Ensure virgin and concentrate materials are supplied to the proper injection molding machineand have been weighed and recorded according to the department procedures.

8. Ensure materials that require drying are dried at the proper settings and the proper length of time according to the department procedures and time constraints. Minimize production downtime relating to material changeover.

9. Maintain all housekeeping requirements for the warehouse and the production floor as defined in the department procedures including all chases, pump room, production floor and warehouse areas within the Molding Department. Responsible for taking out production trash a minimum of once per shift.

10. Responsible for setting up auxiliary equipment necessary for the particular production run replacing, cleaning, and changing filters and empty barrels.

11. Perform minor adjustments to auxiliary and material conveying equipment as needed. Notify and work with Maintenance for equipment troubleshooting and repair as needed.

12. Responsible for all required paperwork completion and accuracy.

13. Participate in training for back ups and new associates.

14. Maintain an open line of communication with all support groups to assure all problems and changes are communicated and resolved in a timely manner.

15. Comply with all departmental attendance and performance policies.

16. Actively participate in Continuous Improvement teams and activities, including 5S, Shift Start-up, updating PVD boards, etc.

17.Excellent communication skills verbal and written, participating in all Material Tech meetings at shift crossover and start up. Follow up on any action items from previous shift and hold self accountable for timely completion of action items for assigned area.

18. Ensure sufficient levels of material in all dryers, hoppers, gaylords, bins, and silo’s throughout shift.

19. Work with Quality and production to contain, move and store quarantined materials.

20. Continuously improve through the KAS program, meeting department goals for completed KAS.

21. Works well with others in a professional manner and resolves minor personnel conflict.

22. Help support both East and West Molding as needed.

23. Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including Hazardous Waste regulations. PPE associated with warehouse, forklift, scissor, and production activities required.

24. Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.

25. Works well individually and in a team setting. Must be self driven.

26. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience :

This position requires :

Minimum Education : High school diploma, GED or equivalent.

Read, write and speak English

Minimum of 1 year warehouse and / or manufacturing experience

Forklift Experience

Preferred qualifications include :

Basic understanding of measurement systems

Work Environment :

Minimal makeup, no fake eyelashes, acrylic or polished nails must be covered with gloves. No exposed jewelry (including wedding, tongue and other rings).Clothing should be clean and in good repair. Torn or tattered clothing is unacceptable. Pants or jeans that are severely worn, frayed or too long and drag on the floor are unacceptable. They increase airborne particulate and can act like dust mops. Midriff or halter tops are not allowed. Within the manufacturing areas, legs must be covered. Frequently standing, walking, bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, repetitive firm grasping and foot movement and frequently lifting up to 20 pounds.

SMOKING / Vaping / Tobacco use - BD is a smoke free campus. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on BD property.

Personal Protective Equipment must be worn and will include a hair net, smock, safety toe shoes, safety glasses, and provided hearing protection. This associate may be expected to stand for long periods of time during their shift.
