Mechatronics Engineer based out of Grand Rapids

Job Summary :

As the Mechatronics Engineer at Belt Power, LLC., you will be responsible for the designing, developing, and implementing of innovative equipment, products, and processes that enhance internal capabilities and operational efficiencies.

This role blends mechanical, electrical, and automation engineering to support both customer projects and internal manufacturing improvements.

Responsibilities Include :

  • Develop design solutions in collaboration with the engineering team to meet business and customer requirements.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot manufacturing challenges, identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and implement process improvements for greater efficiency and quality.
  • Take ownership of development projects from concept through implementation, including :

Designing and developing production processes and equipment.

  • Collaborating with vendors to select and integrate new equipment / technology, evaluating specifications, negotiating contracts, and overseeing installation.
  • Building equipment, tooling, and fixtures, including machining, wiring, welding, and programming of control systems.
  • Providing operator training, clear documentation, and hands-on support.
  • Works with sales team to produce 3D models and 2D drawings for customer approval.
  • Partner with engineering, production sales, and vendors on development projects and process optimization.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition
  • Respect, protect, support, company culture.
  • Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations.
  • Required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
  • Always represent Belt Power in a professional manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and drawing generation using Fusion 360, Inventor, SolidWorks, or Solid Edge.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and verify precise measurements.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial setting strongly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on skills in machining, wiring, and fabrication.
  • Demonstrated project management, organizational, prioritization skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

  • Strong math and computer skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)

  • Physical Demands :

    The Mechatronics Engineer may lift and / or move up to 50 pounds and will require manual dexterity and strength in arms and feet to manipulate equipment controls. Tools, and other items used to make adjustments and / or minor maintenance. Will use hands, arms, back, and shoulders to handle, install, position, move items, and manipulate other objects. Could be in a sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, or sitting position for long periods of time.

    Work Environment :

    Work is generally performed in a fabrication shop environment. The noise level is moderately loud. Generally well-ventilated and well lit. Shop employees may be required to wear protective clothing. Operation of heavy equipment and strict safety regulations are required.

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work :

    This is a full-time position in office, shop, and at the customer site. Typical workdays and hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Occasional travel, overnight, overtime hours, and weekend work may be required.

    Pay Range : $70,000 - $85,000
