SR SOFTWARE ENGINEER

TE Connectivity's R&D Senior Software Engineer will work with cross-functional teams to develop and design firmware and software solutions for automated processes throughout all phases of the NPD as well as helping to maintain existing product through cost downs or obsolescence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software and firmware using languages (Java, Python, C, C++, Javascript, etc)
  • Participate and lead activities related to firmware development to ensure compliance with design intent
  • Work in the engineering laboratory to validate prototypes for testing and customer delivery
  • Create and implement validation test plans to understand the product responses to design and manufacturing variables
  • Work with a team to design and maintain software for automated processes used in the manufacturing process of new products
  • Knowledge of database systems
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis systems
  • Maintain engineering documentation related to firmware and software design
  • Create reports and presentations to communicate status updates and progress
  • Coordinate with the engineering team, the Project Manager and other departments to transfer new products into production
  • Participate in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) sessions
  • Support released products by creating cost saving and design improvements
  • 10%-25% Travel required dependent on Project status

What Your Background Should Look Like

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Software or Computer Science Engineering or related discipline preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience developing solutions for industrial and military application
  • Qualifications

  • US Citizen
  • Proficient in MS Office Software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Experience with embedded software languages
  • Experience with Labview and other PLC languages
  • Knowledge of tools and test methods needed to debug firmware solutions
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Continuous Improvement (Kaizen, 5S, 6?)
  • Understanding of the NPD process from design initiation to production release
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
