Key Responsibilities
Supervisory / Management Responsibility
This role is non-management and will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Graduation from a respiratory therapy program accredited by the American Medical Association or another recognized authority, OR eligibility for licensure in South Carolina, OR status as a senior student graduating within three months.
Required Certifications / Registrations / Licenses
Must hold a valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in South Carolina OR be eligible for licensure OR be a senior student soon to graduate. BLS certification is required, and NBRC credentials must be current. Staff members hired before June 2016 may hold Certified Respiratory Therapist status.
New hires from June 2016 onwards must pass the Therapist Multiple Choice Exam at the Registered Therapist level and the Clinical Simulation Exam within six months of graduation. Failure to pass the exam within this timeframe will result in termination.
NRP and PALS certifications are required before working independently in the NICU and PICU at the Children's Hospital.
Skills and Experience
Ability to work effectively in a team environment is essential. Strong communication, computer, and organizational skills are required.
