Certified Welding Inspector
Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector to join our team in Nashville, TN. This is a full-time, permanent position focused on ensuring the safety and quality of construction projects in the architectural, engineering, and construction industry. Intertek's Building and Construction division offers innovative solutions across multiple architecture, engineering, and construction disciplines.
The Certified Welding Inspector will be responsible for :
Ensuring compliance with safety and environment guidelines, policies, and regulations.
Testing and inspection of structural steel during erection on general building and pipeline sites, as well as occasional plant inspections.
Inspecting general construction and structural steel erection for buildings.
Performing visual inspections on welded products in progress and completed jobs.
Inspecting welding jobs for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, etc.
Recording results of tests and welding inspections.
Issuing and following up on non-conformances until the close out.
Planning and conducting analysis, inspection, test, and / or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.
Reviewing all welded products or components and providing input to the decision of whether to accept or reject the product.
Documenting data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.
Communicating significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and providing recommended process improvements to management.
Inspecting, testing, or measuring materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications.
Measuring dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments.
Operating testing equipment and conducting testing, and providing assessment of data through reporting.
Operating a calculator to calculate mathematical test results.
Adhering to safety practices and policies to ensure personal and others' safety at work.
To be successful in this role, you must have :
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification with D1.1 experience.
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience required.
Availability for long-term, stable employment (not temporary or singular project-based assignments).
Willingness to perform construction materials testing as needed.
Ability to read blueprints and understand and interpret tolerances.
Computer Skills : Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to receive, understand, and execute written and verbal directions.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication.
Ability to work well independently and with others.
Ability to periodically work off shifts and overtime.
Valid Drivers License and reliable driving record (required).
Preferred Requirements and Qualifications :
Technical Degree in Welding is preferred.
Construction materials testing experience is preferred.
