Environmental Test Engineer

Hansell Tierney is partnering with an innovative aerospace engineering organization to identify a Environmental Test Engineer to join their growing team.

Compensation : The anticipated annual base salary range for this role is $117,500 – $153,000 , plus equity. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, and performance.

Position Overview

We’re partnering with a forward-looking aerospace engineering organization seeking a Environmental Test Engineer to join its dynamic team. This role focuses on planning, executing, and analyzing environmental and functional tests for advanced aerospace vehicle components. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with avionics systems testing, environmental qualification standards, and test instrumentation.

You’ll play a critical role in ensuring that flight-critical systems meet rigorous performance and reliability requirements for future aerospace missions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain environmental test plans, procedures, and reports to meet program and regulatory requirements
• Support and participate in environmental test campaigns both onsite and at external facilities
• Coordinate and manage test execution, including travel to partner test labs as needed
• Perform failure analysis, develop root-cause assessments, and implement corrective action plans
• Operate and maintain test equipment including vibration tables, thermal chambers, and related instrumentation
• Design, implement, and support environmental test instrumentation systems

Interpret and apply relevant standards such as DO-160 , MIL-STD-810 , MIL-STD-461 , or similar

Qualifications & Skills

Required :

U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a DoD security clearance

Preferred :

Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) and electrical design tools (e.g., Capital, Zuken)

Technical Skills

Preferred :

Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell)

Education & Experience

Senior Level : Bachelor’s degree with 5–10 years of engineering experience, or equivalent

Work Environment

Occasional travel (less than 10%) required
