Job Summary
The primary duties for the successful candidate will be teaching Physical Therapist Assistant classes for New River Community and Technical College.
Adjunct faculty members serve multiple roles as teachers, mentors, colleagues, and scholars. Adjunct faculty are expected to excel in classroom instruction and to fulfill various responsibilities related to their assigned teaching duties.

Skills / Abilities
Each associated faculty member has contemporary expertise in assigned teaching areas and demonstrated effectiveness in both teaching and evaluation of student learning.
Evidence of the individuals contemporary expertise specific to assigned teaching content in the PTA program. This evidence may include :
Education (including post-professional academic work, residency, and continuing education).
Clinical expertise (specifically related to teaching areas, e.g., certification as a clinical specialist, residency, fellowship).
Consultation and service related to teaching areas.
Other evidence that demonstrates contemporary expertise, for example :
Scholarship (e.g., publications, grant activities, and presentations related to teaching areas).
Written evidence of evaluation of course materials by a content expert.
Independent study and evidence-based review that results in critical appraisal and in-depth knowledge of subject matter.
Formal mentoring (include description of experiences, time frame, and qualifications of mentor).
Responsibilities
Demonstrate ability to relate and work effectively with students, peers and the public.
Commit to the mission and objectives of New River Community and Technical College.
Meet the academic demands of the program.
Provide own transportation and be punctual and regular in attendance.
Travel to various campus locations to teach, including evenings.
Be accessible and responsive to students through e-mail, phone, or scheduled office hours or at other times.
Demonstrate typing and computer skills.
Meet classes as scheduled.
Evaluate student work and maintain accurate records of students academic standing.
Provide students with constructive, encouraging, and corrective feedback in a timely manner.
Direct and supervise student learning in the classroom areas.
Evaluate student performance weekly, at mid-term and at the end of the semester using the appropriate course evaluation tool.
Respect the confidentiality of student information; refrain from discussing or releasing such information except within recognized limits.
Demonstrate integrity and positive interpersonal and communication skills.
Fulfill all expectations of adjunct faculty.
Communicate and collaborate with faculty, mentor or department chair.
Use common assessment tracking questions for the final assessment and report the tracking results on time to the faculty in charge.
Accurately complete course assessments and submit them within department timelines.
Join department meetings and participate in college activities as able.
Provide the course evaluation at the end of each semester and encourage completion.
Education and Certification
Associate's degree or Higher - Physical Therapist Assistant or Physical Therapist - Required
Bachelor's degree or Master's degree - Physical Therapist - Preferred
Licensure - Hold an active, unencumbered PT license or PTA license in any United Stated Jurisdiction and are in compliance with the practice act in jurisdiction where the program is located. - Required
Experience
In addition to the knowledge / education, the following related work experience is typically required for this position. An equivalent combination of education and recent, related experience may be acceptable.
A minimum of three years of full-time (or equivalent) post licensure clinical experience in physical therapy practice and hs contemporary expertise in assigned teaching areas and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and evaluation of student learning. - Required
Experience utilizing technology including Microsoft Word and other software programs - Required
