The expanding Department of Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism at Texas A&M University, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is seeking one full-time, Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) faculty position with a 9-month academic appointment. The anticipated start date for this opportunity is January 5, 2026 with potential for multi-year renewal. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of Instructional Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor of the Practice depending on qualifications.
The incumbent will teach three classes in each of the Fall and Spring semesters (3+3) and provide service and outreach contributions to the department, college, university, profession, and / or community. The successful candidates will be able to operate effectively in an interdisciplinary program involving faculty, staff, graduate, and undergraduate students.
Teaching is the primary responsibility of APT faculty (80% teaching, 20% service). The expectations are broadly as follows :
For appointments at Assistant Professor of the Practice level, applicants must have, at the minimum, a master's level degree appropriate for the field (closely related to hospitality, hotel management or tourism) in which the faculty member will teach and significant teaching experience at the college / school level in the field or in a related field, or have an extraordinary record of accomplishment in an applied setting. There may be additional requirements depending on the specific faculty title.
For appointments at Instructional Assistant Professor level, applicants must have a doctoral degree in a closely related to hospitality, hotel management or tourism. There may be additional requirements depending on the specific faculty title.
For both levels , the applicant must be able to demonstrate proven communication and pedagoglical skills relating to hospitality, hotel management, event management and / or tourism. They should demonstrate effectiveness in both classroom and online environments.
